General information, not tax advice.
How it works
Gross per hour is payout divided by the hours you were logged in, including waiting time. If you add miles and a cost per mile, vehicle costs are subtracted before dividing, which gives the net hourly rate.
Example: $180 over 8 hours online is $22.50 gross per hour. With 120 miles at $0.30 per mile, costs are $36 and net pay is $18.00 per hour.
Frequently asked questions
Should I count waiting time as working time?
Yes. Time spent online waiting for a request is part of the job, so count every hour you were available. Counting only trip time overstates your hourly rate.
What cost per mile should I use?
Use your real cost per mile if you know it. The vehicle cost per mile calculator works it out from gas, maintenance, insurance and depreciation. Leave it blank to see gross pay only.
Why is my net hourly rate so much lower than the app shows?
Apps show earnings before your costs. Fuel, wear, insurance and taxes are yours to pay, and they can take a third or more of gross pay.
